This article is a cool slideshow with 5 dos and don'ts of winter style.
1.) if it's seriously cold...
Do try a longer coat
Don't forget to balance a long coat with high-heeled boot
2.) If you're craving color...
Do wear a bright red jacket or coat for a great alternative to black
Don't forget to pair red with all your wardrobe neutrals-but stay away from white or you'll look like Mrs. Clause :)
3.) If you need a scarf and a hat...
Do experiment with great knitted ones. They give texture to everything!
Don't pair bulky scarves and hats with a hefty down coat (you will look like a snowman)
4.) If you're into boots...
Do remember that shearling is a cozy, casual classic. The look can totally be ski-lodge chic.
Don't pair furry boots with bare legs and a short, tight dress. You don't want to look like a Jersey Shore cast member, do you??
5.) If you're into down coats...
Do get a great coat or jacket in a neutral like gray or a bold primary color.
Don't be tempted by pieces in pastels or white. YOu're looking for sophistication, not a comforter.

I love these Do's and Don'ts that Michael Kors gives... and I agree with every one of them too.
