Guest Speaker

In my fashion seminar class, each of student was required to ask a guest speaker in the industry to come and speak to the class. I asked Laura Shoup from the Bridal Event to come and speak. She had a very impressive history in the fashion industry, and she currently has a very demanding position with the bridal event and is a mom at the same time, and I really admired that about her. She began at Nicole Miller of Philadephia and grew with that company, then decided to go on the Philadelphia Magazine, which gave her the oppurtunity to become The head of all Bridal Publication for the entire magazine, she then went on to Bouche Productions because she had children and this job enables her to work from home. The two major things I learned from Laura was that you can be a mom and have a sucessful career, and that working at home requires a great deal of discipline because when your not in an actual office or working environment it is easy to get distracted.
